Membership of Cairn is free to students, although we do require proof of your student status. Once you have signed up, please email admin@cairnunion.scot with a scan or photo of your student ID.
Open to those who have graduated from further education courses relating to the performing arts lasting one or more years within 12 months of application and is for a two-year period. At the end of this period, Graduate Members will be eligible for Full Membership provided they meet the required criteria.
Open to anyone who doesn’t fulfil Cairn’s membership criteria but has an interest in the performance profession and the trade union movement. Associate Members do not have voting rights and cannot hold a position on the Executive Committee but can upgrade their membership at any time providing they meet the required criteria.
Open to professionals who fulfil at least one of following criteria; A minimum of £600 in paid professional work within 12 months of application. Graduation from a recognised course/diploma/apprenticeship relating to the performing arts. Received a funding award for a project, teaching or delivering workshops or running own business within 12 months of application.
